In order to allow you to prevent customers from placing same-day catering orders, we created a setting called Order Lead Time.
You can find this setting on the Order Settings tab for your catering locations, as you can see in the image below:
Here’s a handy rule of thumb for how to set this value:
- Pick a “typical” day of the week, say Monday.
- Subtract your open time from your close time for that day.
- Set your Order Lead Time to this value.
For example, say your open at 11am and close at 9pm on Monday. 9pm minus 11am is 10 hours. Set your Order Lead Time to 10 hours. Then, if a customer starts a catering order at 11:01am, the first available time will be 9:01pm, but your catering location isn’t open then (since it’s after 9pm), so the first time they’ll see is 11:00am the next day.
If that’s a little confusing, no worries. Just do the math above and you should be all set. 🙂
