Some of our POS integrations allow for automatic menu sync'ing between the POS and Brandibble. In these cases, we treat the POS as the "source of truth" and pull updates (new items, removed items, updated prices, etc.) into Brandibble with a click of a button. This saves you the effort of having to manage your menus in both places and keep things in sync manually, which can be a big time saver.

As of March 2, 2019, this only applies to Salido and Toast integrations, but we'll be expanding this list over time. Our Clover integration also supports automated menu sync'ing, but in that case Brandibble is the source of truth and we push updates to Clover, so it's a little different (we'll save that explanation for a separate post).

Please note: if you're using our Toast integration, changes are made available to us overnight so if you make changes in Toast today, they won't show up on the Brandibble "View Menus" page until the next day. This is not the case with Salido - any changes you make there will be reflected on the Brandibble "View Menus" page in more or less real-time.

You have a couple of options when it comes to how you want to manage the syncing of the two menus.

Automatic menu syncing

If you choose to use automatic menu syncing, then any changes to your POS menus will be pulled into Brandibble automatically overnight (this happens at 5:30am EST).

Please note that your menus are not automatically regenerated during this step - we're just pulling updates into Brandibble so you can see them in the backend.

However, most customers who have automatic menu syncing turned on also turn on automatic menu regeneration in Brandibble, which happens at 6:00am EST. When you have both turned on, any changes that come from your POS will automatically be published to your customer-facing website.

If you'd prefer to review changes, add photos, add descriptions, etc. BEFORE new items show up for customers, then we'd suggest you leave automatic menu regeneration turned off.

Follow the steps below to turn on automatic menu syncing:

  1. Go to Locations and select the location you'd like to edit
  2. Go to Integrations and under POS Integration, select Yes next to Automatically Sync Menu Each Night
  3. Click on Update POS Integration

Follow the steps below to turn on automatic menu regeneration:

  1. Go to Settings > General
  2. Under General Settings, check the box next to Automatic Menu Regeneration
  3. Click on Update General Settings

Remember that you can turn on automatic menu syncing and leave menu regeneration off if you'd like to handle regenerating menus and pushing menu changes to your site manually.

Manual menu syncing

If you'd like to handle pulling POS updates into Brandibble manually (so it doesn't happen automatically overnight), first make sure that automatic menu syncing is turned off at each location by following the steps below:

  1. Go to Locations and select the location you'd like to edit
  2. Go to Integrations and under POS Integration, select No next to Automatically Sync Menu Each Night
  3. Click on Update POS Integration

You may also want to make sure automatic menu regeneration is turned off:

  1. Go to Settings > General
  2. Under General Settings, uncheck the box next to Automatic Menu Regeneration
  3. Click on Update General Settings

Now you're ready to sync and regenerate your menus!

Toast

  1. Go to Integrations > Toast POS
  2. Click on Update Menus
  3. Select the locations you'd like to update and click on Update Menus

Salido

  1. Go to Integrations > Salido POS
  2. Click on Update Menus
  3. Select the locations you'd like to update and click on Update Menus

At this point, you've imported new menu items, modifiers, etc. into Brandibble, but we only have a name (the POS name) and a price. You may want to change the name that customers see (the "Name" field in Brandibble) and/or add descriptions, photos, tags, allergens, etc.

IMPORTANT NOTE: please do not change the "Internal Name" field in Brandibble - this must always match the name of the item in the POS.

When you're ready to push the new menu updates to your site, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Menus > Regenerate
  2. Select the locations you'd like to update and click on Update Menus

That's it! You now know how to sync your POS-integrated menu and push those changes to Brandibble either manually or automatically.
